28 Oct Nix & Kix, a Low-Calorie Soft Drinks Business, Receieves Investment From Henley Business Angels Member
Nix & Kix, a low-calorie carbonated soft drink brand with a focus on natural, vegan ingredients, has received investment from one Henley Business Angels member, contributing towards a funding round of £1m.
With an abundance of unhealthy options in the soft drinks market, worth approximately £30b in the UK, Nix & Kix provides a healthy alternative that comes in a range of flavours, from blood orange and turmeric to mango and ginger. All the drinks Nix & Kix produces have below 20 calories per 100ml and contain no added sugar or artificial sweeteners, making them an attractive option to a customer base that has been shown to prioritise taste, price and health above all else. Customer brand loyalty is another advantage that Nix & Kix has over its competition, with a consumer repeat purchase rate substantially above the industry average helping the company grow its revenue by 40% in the last year.
Nix & Kix has already sold more than 8m drinks, which have received multiple awards and are stocked in several notable supermarkets such as Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose. The drinks are also sold through high street outlets such as Holland and Barret and WH Smith, e-commerce through providers including Ocado, catering contracts with companies such as Meta and growing international sales in Europe and Asia.
Now at a revenue run rate of £1.8m, using the funds invested Nix & Kix plans to broaden their marketing outreach to increase brand awareness in their key demographics. Expanding the product range and attracting additional retailers and international distributors are also priorities that Nix & Kix is looking to explore.
Kerstin Robinson, the Co-Founder and CEO of Nix & Kix, was pleased by the news of the investment: “We have an exciting future ahead, with launches in the UK and abroad coming up; it’s not public knowledge yet, but a big retail chain in the US want to launch Nix & Kix. We are therefore happy to receive the support from HBA to help us grow further.”
Jurek Sikorski, Founder and Director of HBA, commented: “Nix & Kix’s innovation in healthy soft drinks has seen a rapid uptake. We expect them to do well in what is a growing market, as consumers are increasingly drawn towards a healthy lifestyle.”
